November 19th, 2015 was the groundbreaking for LCpl. Caleb Getscher and family's new smart home in Maryland!
The smart home, equipped with high tech features and floors installed by Contract Carpet Systems Carpet One Floor & Home, will provide Caleb with independence from his injuries that he suffered while on foot patrol in Sangin, Afghanistan on June 18, 2011.
An improvised explosive device detonated resulting in the instant loss of Caleb’s left leg below the knee and caused a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) that impacts his short-term memory. As a result of shrapnel and infection, Caleb also suffered the loss of his right leg above the knee and left arm below the elbow.
The smart home, which is scheduled to be completed in 2016, will be a fresh start for Caleb, his wife and his daughter.
